Comments from runners.

This is probably my 5th or 6th race with you, combined 1/2 and relay. It has always been an easy event in terms of parking, running, connecting with relayers and the post race food is awesome!! I am now in the 55-59 female age group. Since 1994, I have probably run about 40-50 1/2s. Never to place but to finish close to 2 hours, and never walk. This year, I placed 3rd in my age group in this race. I never go to the "medal announcements" with the assumption that I would not place, content with my goal to I found this out when the emails were sent out. This is probably silly, but if there is a "recognition" to third place in an age category that I missed by not being there, I would be grateful to be included.

Fun race, enjoyable course. Our daughter had leukemia so it is for a great cause supporting L&L.

I was bummed there were no Age Group awards given at the event.

The race is a great tune-up ahead of a spring marathon; or just a good training goal coming out of winter. The course is progressively downhill along the river, it is well marked and easy to follow, and they have just the right amount of runners so it isn't overcrowded nor do you find yourself running alone. Plenty of bathrooms at the start line, aid stations are well placed, the gear bag process is super simple, and they start and finish along a lightrail line (and provide a free train pass) so logistics are super easy. And, best of all, the post-party is terrific: amazing food courtesy of the Buckhorn Exchange, you get a commemorative pint glass, and some great vendors setup. The uphill at mile 12.5 is a bit cruel, but you get the downhill side of it to catapult you to the finish, so it all evens out. This is becoming a race that I have to do every year.

The train ticket back to start is great but a ticket from Mineral Station to the start line would be great too. Or let us on train because of the race bib All in all after many years of running this race it is still fun and a great value!

My one comment would be regarding the 'contact us' form. It appears that no one responded to my original inquiry and my follow up to it. Hopefully in the future you can have someone manage that with prompt responses. Suggest option to be able to replace relay member should the original member get injured, sick, etc. The new member can sign the waiver like everyone else and still be able to complete the relay team.

I ran this race last year as well and I have to say I was VERY disappointed by the finish line this year. No runner should EVER have to finish a race and not have access to water. The way you set up the swimming pools of water, all attendees had access to the water. This meant that spectators heading to the finish line were helping themselves to the water as well. My friend and I had to walk all the way to the Muscle Milk tent before there was a pool with water. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. We were not by far the slowest people so its not like you just ran out for the late runners. You should be ashamed that this happened. In addition, the food was running out as well because non-runners were eating. They had run out of mac and cheese and if you are not a meat eater, or you simply didn't want a huge burger after you ran that was the only option. I paid A LOT of money for this race and trained my butt off, I expect more. Lastly, I felt the quality of the shirts were MUCH lower this year. In fact, the iron on design on my shirt bled through to the back of the shirt and I had to peel it apart, leaving the design damaged. I know I was not the only one that thought this because we saw several on the course as throw away shirts, you rarely see the current race shirt being a cold weather throw away unless they are really cheap. I know races are expensive to operate and I am sure it was not your intention, but the quality of your race has diminished. I will have to really think twice about running again. I truly hope that you address these matters and know that I was not the only one experiencing them. There were lots of runners around me who expressed the same frustration. Half Marathons are popping up everywhere in Colorado these days and I would hate to see you lose runners because of quality. On a positive note I loved the glass this year compared to last years and although the beer line was insanely long, they were moving people through quickly.

I have only done 2 different half-marathons ever, but have been involved with this one for about the past 8 years or so, either as a participant or a volunteer. I like that you're running on paved paths, but not really roads, and think the post-party is really good. Getting home on the light rail was really easy too. I also liked the delayed starts for the waves this year- it helped with the spacing. My only concern is usually the parking at the start- but I just try to get there early enough to park in the light rail lot. It was also harder to find bottled water at the finish this year. But overall, I think it's a great race to participate in.

Good course. Some unexpected and welcomed shade on the second half of the course. The final hill is big of a shock, especially on tired legs, but survivable.

Was very disappointed with the problems with the starting mats and no compensation for this what so ever. The race itself was done well and the crowds on the trails were handled much better then previous years.

What a great race! It is well organized and who wouldn't dash to the finish for all of the great food and party atmosphere. I have paid a whole lot more for a 1/2 marathon and when I crossed the finish line to find only a smattering of rotten bananas as a reward. The volunteers are friendly and do a great job of cheering you on. I love this race!
