Enjoy the 5k the day before. Then run the half or the full on Saturday. The weather is near perfect. The people are very friendly that organize the race. Nicks Hamburgers at the post race are great. Look forward to doing this race

Well-organized, well-run race; small field and not much fanfare, but the logistics couldn't be better.

Overall, it was a good race. The course was a great tour of the city of Brookings. The availability of showers at Powershop Gym after the race was fantastic. Very fair registration price. I picked up my packet on the morning of the race, and it went as smoothly as could be. Volunteers were at every turn, showing you the right direction--they were very friendly and cheerful. What I think could have been improved: I would really appreciate if volunteers would bring back clothes/hats/gloves dropped on the course back to the lost and found. There's a course elevation map and commentary for the full marathon on the website, but not one for the half--I wish there had been one for the half. The bottleneck as we crossed the bridge at mile 2 or 3 cause a huge slow down.

The cheering crowd was lighter in 2016 than previous years. I'm guessing this was due to the cold temps as well as the local college semester ending the week prior (the 2016 race was a week later than the 2015 race). I enjoy this race and route - it's easily accessible to spectators (my husband could of ridden his bike around the city to cheer me on), packet pick up was a cinch and well organized, parking was close to the start/finish line and parking attendants kept the lots neat; the number off runners isn't overwhelming, this years pacers rocked, water stops were often and were ran by happy looking volunteers, the medals were awesome, the community support by community members, national guard and local police and firefighters was great. I'd recommend this race to a first timer or a 20th timer. A great experience

Great small town race feel. One of the coolest things was the announcer had us send interesting tidbits for him to announce as we finished - it was awesome to hear about the people as they finished!

It was an easy course to follow with a great amount of water stations. There were plenty of people telling us where to go and making sure we stayed on track. People were very supportive and kind throughout the entire race, and after the post-race activities and food were perfect. Overall, it was a great time.

This race is amazing! Love the course and the ease of morning packet pick up, easy parking, and the limited number of people to make the race the perfect size. Did I mention the awesome medals and shirts? This committee just does an amazing job over all. A must run and my favorite race!

This was my 40th marathon and 15th state. The number of volunteers was outstanding….I only had a couple of spots where I wasn't sure where the course went but guessed right. GREAT MEDAL!

A good small race. It is "hometown" for me. The marathon running crowd is hurt by the early date- hard to get the training in up north. The volunteers are great. Fans are friendly even to runners they don't know. It is a regular race for me.

What a great city Brookings is. It's so clean and the people are fantastic. The marathon was a great way to tour the city. My favorite part was the trails in the southwestern part of town that curl through a neighborhood of many great homes. I'll be back next year.

Brookings is by far one of the best organized and supported races in South Dakota. This is my 5th consecutive year running it and I look forward to those to come! Could you all work on that wind though:)

It was a small race but it exceeded my expectations for a race of its size. The shirt was the the best I have gotten at any race! The volunteers were excellent and the shuttle service was greatly appreciated and well coordinated. The course was pretty and mostly flat.

I knew coming in that this wasn't a larger race but had a great time. Loved how friendly the town was and even the other runners. Course was fun and with the twists and turns kept things interesting.

The public restrooms at Hillcrest Park had no toilet paper in either stall. only 2 portable toilets on 8th St, 2 people waiting when we went by. Would have been nice if there were more but I don't know what's really to be expected. volunteers were really "up" considering the wind. Appreciated them. 2 aid stations didn't have powerade ready when we went by. Was special to be announced going across the finish line.

I wish there was more support from fans. I just thought there would be more people. I also think you should have local sponsors. Would be a good wAy to get more people involved. The volunteers were awesome couldn't ask for more there.

Brookings does a great job hosting this race! they make you feel like they want you to be there. Know what they can handle and do it well. This remains a top fave SD race. Music out after the hill was great!! Love the cowbells too. Nicely done, brookings.

There may not have been many spectators due to the cold, but the volunteers made up for them. They were friendly, helpful, kind & they had to have been very cold! Didn't see/hear any entertainment on the course; I loved the fact that it was a 'small' marathon ~ would love to do it again!

Very boring course without much to see. They need to look at the course to determine how they can make it more scenic. Also there is a short out/back (about 10 yards) where you pivot 180 degrees around a cone that could be eliminated. Volunteers were AWESOME and very friendly.

I really enjoyed it! My friend and I got PRs despite the wind (our first sub-4 times!) plus age group places. My best recommendation would be to have different cups at the aid stations next year. The ones used were too wide and I couldn't drink while running without spilling. I am usually able to drink by bending the cup but I had to pour the water into my water belt bottles. Otherwise, I thought it was a great race and well-organized! I would definitely run it again if it fits into my schedule!

This was an awesome race! The people were very friendly. The race was very well organized. It has been my favorite one so far. The one thing and only thing I didn't like was the fact that I took second for my age divsion and I was never told that so I wasn't able to get my award. But I guess it is what it is. I loved the race can't say enough good things about it.

A very well organized marathon with great volunteers & friendly crowd support. The race shirt, bag, medal & post race food were all top notch. All the good things of rural America were at this marathon. It was an awesome experience!

The wind from mile 16 on made the race tough! But I still ran a 1 minute 45 second personal best on 2 hours of sleep due to flight delays and long drive time, from northwest Indiana!

The town of Brookings always puts on a good race, there seems to be volunteers everywhere helping out. The participants are friendly, the course is flat, and the finishers medal is heavy enough to be used as a boat anchor.....well done Brookings marathon race director. Condidering the outstanding weather this year, every participant I talked to ran well.

Loved, loved, loved this race! Pretty course, nice people, great weather. A+ all around. My only suggestion would be to eliminate or reduce the sidewalk sections of the race, especially in the last few miles. Maybe you could close a lane of traffic on some of those streets to give runners a better surface?

This is an easy race to participate in - you can park close to the start line, a good number of runners but not too crowded, friendly volunteers and a nice post race environment. Certainly a very resonably priced event and I like my new running top. Nice job on arranging the weather too!

Wonderful small town run, very well organized. I was surprised at how many volunteers there were for a town if this size. They were all very friendly and supportive. They had plenty of water stops, I was happy to see so many people stick around to the end. I would run it again and recommend this race.

Thank you to all the volunteers that made this marathon wonderful. Brookings was my 2nd marathon and it amazed me at how much support I received at every water stop and the relay exchanges, I will definitely be back again. The only suggestion I would have is to have water stops at every mile from 20 to 26, especially when it is hot. I didn't really want more to drink but water to try and cool off with.

This is a great small town race. The ONLY thing I would love to see change is all the running on sidewalks - a) they're too narrow, b) when you're getting tired the concern about catching a toe on a sidewalk segment is not needed. c) the last mile is a killer with all the ups and downs on the curbs. This is a small town - Can't some roads be closed for the race. it seems that there's plenty of town support, and keeping the race on either paths or roads would make this a stellar race.
