Running Background:

I consider myself an advanced runner and I primarily run for hobby. I ran 5K's and began winning those like crazy and craved something bigger!


A year of training I started when my son was 2 months old. I would usually run 5 to 6 miles each day. Then I began doing double runs, soon after I decided I wanted to do a marathon. I began a 12 week program closer to the marathon that was extremely intense which included close to 60 miles a week or more!

The best training advice given to me by my coach was not to dwell on my injuries while I was in training -- just move on!

Race Day:

The 2007 Jacksonville Marathon was better than expected.

My 1st marathon was on December 16th, 2007, and it will be a day I will always remember! The weather was horrible the night before and the morning of the race. I prayed the whole night for it to clear up for the run. When I got up to get ready it was still pretty bad outside, but as the morning went on it began clearing up! Then I went to the location of the race and the race began. It was excellent! I just kept in my mind that I had trained for a whole year and I could accomplish this. I never hit the wall and even at the end finished with a surge!!!!! It was an excellent marathon and I now have the fever and want another one soon:).


My recovery wasn't bad. I rested, took recovery walks, and ate carbs.

Plans to Run Another:

I am planning to run another marathon!

For my next marathon, I will not stop at all the water stops. I will wear a belt next time but I will get the GU at the stops!
