The best training advice I received was to do the same thing on race day as I did during training.
The 2008 Chicago Marathon was better than expected. The marathon this year was awesome. I finished with a new PR, knocking 9 minutes. I did not hit a wall until mile 24, but it was all mental. I kept telling myself the 2 miles was a turn around point for a 4 mile run....not a good thing to tell yourself at the end of a marathon. I was a little disappointed in crowd support. It was not as good as it has been the previous three Chicago marathons that I participated in. It started to get a bit hot especially toward the end. Overall it was a good race.
My recovery was pretty rough. I drank a lot of Propel.
